The New York Times praised young Italian-American soprano Marina Costa Jackson for being dramatically and musically alluring…notable for her burnished timbre and subtle phrasing.” Others wrote about her “dramatic, burnished voice and subtle acting.“ They concluded “Ms. Costa Jackson sounds like a seasoned veteran”.

In 2015 Marina won the Metropolitan Opera National Council winner, the Gerda Lissner Foundation, and the Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation International Vocal Competition in 2015. In 2016 she was a second place winner of Operalia. In 2014 she won the Giulio Gari Foundation International Competition, and was awarded second prize in the 2014 Marcello Giordani Foundation Vocal Competition. She was also a finalist in the Belvedere Competition, and a major award winner in the Opera Index Vocal Competition. The Mario Lanza Institute, the Sergio Franchi Music Foundation, the George London Foundation have given her additional awards.

Last season she debuted with Opera de Paris as Micaela in Carmen, returned to the Metropolitan Opera as Mimi in La Boheme (cover), followed by Mimi at Opera Köln and with the Welsh National Opera, and performed the role of Adalgisa in Norma (soprano key) for her debut with the Dallas Opera, for which she was awarded the 2017 Maria Callas Debut Artist of the Year. Prior to that she made her professional debut as Musetta with Michigan Opera Theatre in La Boheme, debuted the role of Leonora in Il Trovatore in Hong Kong, and covered the role of Amelia in Simon Boccanegra at the Metropolitan Opera. She also sang Verdi’s Requiem with Teatro Municipal de Santiago, and Fiora in L’amore dei Tre Re with the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, where she graduated in May 2016. This past season included a flurry of debuts: Maria di Rohan with Washington Concert Opera, Fiordiligi with Seattle Opera, the role of Violetta with Opera Köln, her debut as Nedda in I Pagliacci with Utah Opera, and Verdi’s Desdemona in Otello in Savonlinna and the Bolshoi in Moscow. Future engagements include Giulietta in Tales of Hoffmann with Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Elisabetta in Don Carlo with Grange Park Opera and for her debut with the New National Theatre in Tokyo, a return to L’opera de Paris, and her debut as Tatyana in Eugene Onegin. She will also make her debut in concert at the Royal Concertgebuow.

Last season she performed in concert with Dmitri Hvorostovsky in Minsk, with Andrea Bocelli in Madison Square Garden, debuted as one of the Costa-Jackson trio of opera-singing sisters in the International Festival “Palaces of St. Petersburg” concerts, and performed at Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall. As a resident artist of the Academy of Vocal Arts she has performed Mimi in La Boheme, Marguerite in Faust and the title role in Iolanta. Prior to that she performed Amelia in Un Ballo in Maschera and Liza in Tchaikovsky’s Pique Dame and Violetta in La Traviata.
