During the 2011-12 season, Soprano Heather Phillips, described by the Kansas City Metropolis as having a “...Clear timbre...delicate and nuanced… and arresting...” voice, will be seen as Micaela in Kentucky Opera’s production of Carmen, which will be performed on tour later in the season with the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, the Bowling Green Western Symphony Orchestra and the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra.

In 2010-11, she was seen as Musetta in La Bohème at the Crested Butte Music Festival in Colorado under the baton of David Syrus, and she made her mainstage debut with Opera Southwest singing the role of Elvira in L’italiana in Algeri in which the Albuquerque press noted her “strong and beautiful soprano voice.” In the spring of 2011 she made her mainstage debut with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City singing the role of Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro.  She also performed as Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Aspen Opera Theatre Center under the baton of Maestra Jane Glover. With Kentucky Opera’s 2009 season, Miss Phillips sang the roles of Annina in La Traviata and Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel.

Other previous engagements Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro at Cincinnati Opera and Betty in the Mid-West Premiere of Lowell Libermann's Miss Lonely hearts in which the Cincinnati Enquirer noted, “Heather Phillips offered a pure, sweet soprano.”

Heather was recently a district winner and regional finalist in the 2010 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and an award winner in the 2011 Schuyler Foundation Competition for Career Bridges in New York City. She holds both a Master's and a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from the prestigious University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). She received an encouragement award in the 2011 Schuyler Foundation Competition for Career Bridges in NYC. In 2009 she garnered the 1st place prize at the National Opera Association-Vocal Competition. Also in 2009 Miss Phillips placed 2nd at the Orpheus Vocal Competition. She is also recently the recipient of a career grant from the Anna Sosenko Assist Trust awards for 2009.

In addition to her formal education and training at the cincinnati college-conservatory of music, Miss Phillips has trained as a young artist with the Cincinnati opera, Kentucky opera, Crested Butte Music Festival, Opera Theatre and Music Festival of Lucca Italy, Brevard Music Festival, & Bay View Music Festival. Miss Phillips is currently a student of Diana Soviero and Vinson Cole.
