Piper Anselmi featured Attraction

Piper Anselmi Artists is pleased to provide world-wide representation to Dominic Shodekeh Bouma, the premiere Beat Boxer in the US.  A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Shodekeh is a professional beatboxer and vocal percussionist in a number of artistic fields for dance, music and the visual arts. By channeling the concepts of various instruments & sound scapes he vocalizes everything from drum sets, turntables, ocean waves, to sleigh bells. These abilities & his keen musical adaptability have brought him far & wide accross many genres & artistic traditions within a very short period of time, which has allowed him to repeatedly become the premiere Beat Boxer/Vocal Percussionist to serve in such an array of creative settings.

He has performed with the Baltimore Symphony, the Hartford Symphony Orchestra in a program entitled "Brahnms & Beetboxing", where he performed “Fujiko’s Fairy Tale for Beatboxer and String Orchestra”, and will be heard next season with symphonies in Boulder Colorado, Rochester, and Shreeveport.

He currently serves as faculty and musical accompanist for Towson University’s dance department and The American Dance Festival at Duke University. Past awards and recognition include a residency with The Johns Hopkins Modern Dance Company, an Artist Studio Residency at the Creative Alliance at The Patterson, grants and commissions for the U.S. Embassy of Lithuania’s Month of American Culture Program, and placement on the Maryland State Arts Council Touring Artist Roster Program.
